The Birth of La Costa Presented by the City of Carlsbad.
La Costa originally developed in the 1960’s as a resort tourist destination by a land development company from Las Vegas. As the popularity of the resort destination, golf, and tennis events grew, so did the need for homes. Originally La Costa was primarily a second home community, however, in the early 1970’s became a part of the city of Carlsbad and started building suburban homes for local residents.
Today, La Costa Resort, now known as Omni La Costa Resort still has a thriving resort community as well as suburban neighborhoods surrounding it. La Costa offers homes, mainly Spanish Styled architecture that reflected the character and flare from the Spanish Colonial design of the La Costa Resort, which range from the neighborhoods in Olde La Costa built around 1970’s to 1980’s and 1990’s neighborhoods of La Costa Canyon, the newer 21st century Villages of La Costa like La Costa Valley, La Costa Oaks, La Costa Greens, and La Costa Ridge.
From condominiums to luxury estates, La Costa offers a great community for many. Coupled with the well-kept parks, quick access to South Carlsbad Beaches, top ranking school districts, and tight knit neighborhoods, La Costa makes a great place to call home.
