The area we call La Costa was incorporated into the larger town of Carlsbad, Ca in 1972 and makes up its southwest quadrant. The areas we are referring to as La Costa goes from El Camino Real on the west, Algo Rd in the north and encircled by Rancho Sante Fe Rd on the east and south side.

Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) also serves La Costa and is an outstanding high school. One of their excellent programs is QUEST: The STEM Experience. They offer Computer Science, AP Computer Science, and Robotics and Engineering. ASB in another program at Canyon Crest and is a student driven program that drives events at CCA. This program gives students a chance to develop leadership skills. CCA also has a prestigious arts program called Envision. There is a conservatory for which students audition and that can help take young artists to the next level in artistic expression and performance.
